Building Blocks Build-A-Blanket, Wednesday Mornings

This course will be using the book Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter. It is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills one square at a time.

Each of the 12 patterns sequentially build on the techniques and skills learned from the previous block. At the end of the series, there will be 12 different pattern blocks to put together in a sampler afghan, and the knitter will have learned new knitting skills, techniques, and principles.

This course is for anyone who wants to learn new skills or improve on already learned knitting techniques! Beginning knitters must already be able to cast on, knit and purl. This is a great wat to meet other knitters as you journey together through this learning experience.

Please note that this course is for knitters who can learn in a class situation. There are fantastic videos which are available to help with any confusion, however, this is not a one-on-one instructional class.

Each month there will be a sample block to look at and handle. There will be a demonstration of the skills needed to complete the block and the instructor will check for understanding. However, it is the responsibility of the student to complete the block on their own during the following month. If additional help is occasionally needed, there will be options explained during the class.

It’s a 12 month series, meeting  one Wednesday a month, 10:30-12:30, except for the fiber prep class April 15.

Class fee: $140 if you buy the yarn from Sunshine Weaving and Fiber Arts. If you prefer to use your own yarn the class will be $175.00. The class fee includes the book Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter, (a $19.90 value), a year of classes and other goodies when the class starts. We will be using Berroco Vintage, a worsted weight yarn, to complete this project. You will need size 7 knitting needles.

There will be a fiber prep class Saturday,  April 15, 10:30-12:30. You can stop by during that time to choose your colors and talk with the instructor, Raquel, about the class.
