Chinese Thread Book Workshop – Sunday, May 3rd, 1:00-4:00

The Chinese Thread Book (Zhen Xian Bao) is a remarkable folded paper structure traditionally used to store sewing notions and small treasures. Constructed entirely from paper, it unfolds into a series of hidden, nested compartments, revealing box within box in a satisfying sequence of surprises.

In this workshop, you’ll learn to create your own multi-layered Chinese Thread Book while exploring its cultural history and ingenious engineering. Once assembled, the layered surfaces become a canvas for collage, painting, stamping, or intricate pen work such as zentangling.
No prior bookbinding or paper crafting experience is necessary – just a love of making and curiosity about beautiful structures.
