Instructor Bio:
I am Barbara Boone and I am 74 years old. I worked in factories until I retired in March of 2002. Less than a year after I retired, my younger sister, Brenda, with terminal cancer. She worked over thirty years in the Health department taking care of children.
So Brenda decided she wanted to teach someone how to weave baskets before she passed away and she chose me. I had never woven any up to that point. Sometimes I would take her to have her treatments and then for the rest of the day she would try to teach me to weave. She didn’t want anyone else there when we were weaving.
After Brenda passed away, I continued to weave and I have really enjoyed it. I think of Brenda with every basket I make. I also think of all the times I made mistakes and she would make me take it out. That makes a person a better weaver.
So if you take one of my classes or buy one of my baskets, be assured you are getting the best I can do!
