Workshop Description (3 hr) – Cables are a classic way to add tons of beautiful designs to your knitting using a surprisingly easy technique. This class will give you all the skills you need to tackle intricate cable patterns with ease. You will learn a range of basic cables, how to cable with and without a cable needle, how to understand intricate cable charts with ease, and how to select yarn to make your cable projects really pop. You will also be introduced to how to fix mistakes in your cable knitting, allowing you to relax and enjoy your knitting, knowing that a mistake doesn’t have to mean ripping out your project.
Student Requirements (materials, skills, etc.) – DK or worsted weight yarn (stash leftovers are fine, light colored solids or semisolids recommended),
16-in US8/5.0mm circular needles or size appropriate for your yarn, cable needle, locking stitch marker, post-it notes/highlighter tape/other marker for tracking chart rows.
Students should be confident with basic knitting techniques like casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.
