This course will be using the book Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter. It is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills one square at a time.
Each of the 12 patterns sequentially build on the techniques and skills learned from the previous block. At the end of the series, there will be 12 different pattern blocks to put together in a sampler blanket, and the knitter will have learned new knitting skills, techniques, and principles. Beginning knitters are welcome and should be comfortable casting on, knitting, and purling. This class is best for those who enjoy learning in a supportive group setting.
What to Expect
Each month, you’ll explore a sample block and watch a clear demonstration of the techniques needed to complete it. You’ll finish your block independently over the following month, with helpful video resources available for support. While this is not a one-on-one class, optional help opportunities will be shared. It’s a fun, encouraging way to build skills, confidence, and connect with other knitters as you learn together.
This is a yearlong class starting Sat., March 14 and continues every second Saturday of the month after. Class will meet 10:30-12:00.

Cancellation Policy
To keep our classes running smoothly and to honor the time and preparation of both students and instructors, we ask that all participants review the following policy:
- 7 Business Days’ Notice for Full Refund Cancellations made at least 7 business days before class will receive a full refund (minus credit card processing fees). This gives us time to offer your spot to someone on the waitlist and ensures new students have time to gather materials and complete any required homework.
- Cancellations Within 72 Hours Cancellations made within 72 hours of the class are eligible for up to a 50% refund.
- Minimum Enrollment Classes require at least three students to run. Because our instructors are paid per participant, sessions may be canceled if fewer than three students register. In this case, you will receive a full refund or class credit.
- Studio or Instructor Cancellations If Sunshine Weaving and Fiber Arts or Valerie Phelps must cancel a session, you will be notified promptly and offered a make-up session for the canceled class.
